Certified Product Owner Training
Our two-day certification course is for anyone wanting to learn how to effectively plan and work with a Scrum team in the Product Owner role.
Scrum teams can go extremely fast and build high quality code. However, if they aren’t heading in the right direction they will simply fail faster. We are passionate about our Product Owner training, as a Scrum team without a good Product Owner and an effective planning process will fail, sometimes rather spectacularly.
Our expertise is in Product design and innovation, helping companies build everything from secure chips to nuclear powerplant dashboards, run a hospital, a technical operations team or an art gallery. Our teachers aren’t just good at Scrum, they are great at building products having successfully launched many products to market in the Product Owner role and run large product portfolio’s.
We are dismayed at the amount of trainers teaching this class who have read a book but never actually walked around in the Product Owner shoes, and think that successful Products come out of logical engineering practices. We absolutely disagree. Building a great product is an art form balancing creativity with the need to make hard trade-offs between scope, schedule and budget, all while balancing politics and complex environments.
What you will learn
Our class is run like a start-up. We incubate a new idea in your team over the two days teaching you all the activities you will need to get started back at work. We take an idea, quantify what success means, teach you how to write requirements Agile style, how to build your solution iteratively and strategies to get small batches to market sooner. We discuss estimation techniques (and their pitfalls), how to create an “up-front” plan based on dynamic ranged forecasting that your managers will understand, how to cost and schedule your solution, then how you can deal with changes along the way. We teach you how to build less, as this is the key to getting to market faster. We will walk you through scaling up to multiple teams, dealing with multiple stakeholders with conflicting requests and a whole lot of questions you didn’t even know you had until you got to class.
Why go to a class?
A class with an experienced trainer and a room full of other people with tips and tricks to share is a great way to fast track your learning. It’s no panacea or substitute for experience but it does give you an invaluable toolkit to use back at work. Our classes get consistently graded an average of 9.4% out of 10 as they are fun, relevant and based on real life situations.

Price
Agile Lean Training offers Certified Scrum two day classes for £14,000 for up to 25 participants, plus travel and expenses. Certification fees and membership in the Scrum Alliance are included, plus an electronic copy of the materials.
As of 2011, public classes are approximately £995 plus VAT per person for a sole trainer or £1195 plus VAT per person for a dual trainer session. Please check the specific class for the most up to date pricing.
